Common Computer Problems and Their Solutions

Whenever you are working with electronics, there is always the potential for problems. This is especially true when working with computers. The following is a list of common computer problems and possible solutions.

  • Your computer will not turn on. This is probably the most common problem of them all. Before you call the repair tech, check the back of your computer and make sure that everything is still plugged in. It is easy for cords to become loose or get pulled out, especially the mouse.
  • You’re not getting sound from the speakers. This could be for various reasons. You may be trying to run a program that is not compatible with your sound card, the speakers could be inserted incorrectly, or your computer volume may be muted.
  • Your computer is running slowly. Again, this could be for a lot of different reasons, but one possible reason is a virus. You should install anti-virus software to remove the malicious software and see if your computer’s performance improves. If that was not the problem, you may need to run a defragment process.
  • Your monitor’s display is fuzzy. This is probably just because you are running the microwave, radio, or any other electronic device near your computer. You can fix this problem by buying an LCD monitor or putting your computer in an area that is isolated.
  • Your computer is making strange noises. This can be quite comical at first, but it gets annoying really fast. It is most likely a hardware problem. Sometimes when an electronic part gets old, it will start to buzz. The fan will also make weird noises if it becomes blocked with dust particles, hair, or anything else. If cleaning doesn’t solve the problem, you may need to replace the fan. You can do this yourself or have a repair shop do it for you. It is a good idea to run regular maintenance on your machine to avoid weird and worrisome noises.
