Irate Customers Putting the Blame on You for Things You Did Not Do
You fix a computer for a customer. You test it out, and all is working well. Feeling good about your work, you give the computer back to your customer and triumphantly tell the customer that everything is going well now. About a day or two later, you get a call from the same customer, blaming you for problems that are occurring with the computer. The customer threatens to take you to court. No doubt, you have anxiety about this. To effectively handle this common problem, have a warranty in place and make clear that the customer has only a certain amount of time to file a complaint.
Blame for Lost Data
Another of the common problems that computer service technicians face is the blame for lost data. Some computers are so messed up that it is impossible to back up the data. In order to prevent being so much as litigated for this, as some customers will try to take you to court for this, you want to write up a contract and have them sign it.
