If you’ve purchased a new computer lately, then you probably had a choice of antivirus software that you can try out for a limited time.  While the computer you purchased may not offer the antivirus software that you’re used to, this does give you the option of trying something new for free.  What’s great about that is that you may find an antivirus program that works even better than what you’re used to having on your previous computer.  Another good thing about trying out antivirus software that comes with a new computer is that you may already have antivirus software that has a certain date that runs out in if you can freeze that date then you can use the new software on trial basis and see which one you like better.  Even if you like the new software better and have to purchase it, you can still use your old antivirus offer in the meantime till you’re ready.

Many retail stores, especially the larger ones, will sometimes offer an antivirus software program along with a type of package deal such as an entire computer system or a package where you buy a printer too. These are typically good antivirus programs that you can get for a low lower price than if you had to buy it by itself, new in the box.

No matter how you plan to do it or which software you plan to use, you’ll need to activate or install the antivirus program as soon as you can and before you access the Internet. This will ensure your safety while surfing online because an attack can happen at any time and without protection you are vulnerable to attacks of various degrees. So the first thing you’ll want to do after hooking up your computer is to activate the antivirus software and it doesn’t matter if it’s your own copy or whatever came with your new computer.
