Tips to Solve Most Computer Problems
The first thing to try always is to reboot. Rebooting helps wipe the slate clean and returns your computer to its normal starting state. It can clear hung processes, reboot applications and is generally good for solving a lot of application related errors.
If after rebooting you notice that the problem starts up right away then one thing you can try is to click on Start, Go to Run (in Windows 7 or Windows Vista this is simply the search box) and type in MSCONFIG. This is going to return the Microsoft Windows System Configuration Utility. For novice users the only tab you will need to use is the startup tab. Here you can take a look at all the applications and such that start when your computer starts. Un-checking things you don’t need will not only help speed things up when it comes time to start your PC but can also help you isolate the application that is giving you grief.
If you do not know what the things are that you are un-checking, often times a quick Google search will tell you what it is, and why it is starting up.
